Wikipedia, the free-to-use online encyclopedia, has become the information source of choice for many internet users. And that includes surfers who are looking for health information. Wikipedia pages, of course, also rank highly in the search engines for many search terms.
When it comes to information on medical drugs, however, recent research has surfaced a problem - critical information, such as that on side effects, is often missing. Read more in the following article. (more…)
If you have ever taken a CT scan or MRI, which is most likely the case, you would know just how costly these tests are. And, do you realize that at the facilities where these tests are conducted, the scan rooms are always marked out with huge “danger” signs, and everybody scrams leaving you alone with the machinery? Yes, the radiation and magnetic fields are damaging to health!
These are two of the most worrying aspects of the fact that the number of medical imaging tests conducted is on the rise. (more…)
Two to three centuries ago, the American population was quite healthy overall.
Fast forward two to three hundred years, and, despite being one of the technological leaders of the world and being the top national spenders on medical care (spending a very large proportion of its GDP on medical bills), th US today is very heavily diseased and chronically ill. What’s gone wrong? (more…)

Statins are pharmaceutical drugs frequently prescribed to control and lower cholesterol levels. On top of that, they are often pushed as some sort of magical medication which can supposedly benefit health in various ways.
Is that true, or just another propaganda gimmick from the pharmaceutical industry? Well, as far as statins lowering prostate cancer risk is concerned, the following article suggests the opposite may be true. (more…)

Often, we are told of the safety and effectiveness of modern medicine’s methods and treatment techniques. We are told that a certain drug has been thoroughly tested and confirmed to be “safe” for human use. We are told that a certain treatment method has a such-and-such percentage of success. We are told that chemotherapy is a “proven” treatment, with a “proven” track record, with “proven” success rates, and is “proven” to lengthen life.
Yet, how much of these assertions or claims are actually true? (more…)
Many people turn to natural and herbal remedies for many minor ailments - headaches, itchy skin, tummy upsets and what not. But when it comes to a serious ailment like cancer, most people freeze.
Yes, it is extremely difficult to walk away from the conventional medical system and conventional cancer treatment. To walk away from prestigious and high-tech hospitals; established and qualified medical doctors and specialists with a long list of credentials; doctors, nurses and other persons of authority dressed in robes; and what is supposedly “proven”. There are big things wrong with the medical and health care (are they the same thing?) system in developed nations today. There is also much wrong with the food and beverage industry, much wrong with the pharmaceutical industry. There is just too much emphasis on profits, on dangerous drugs, and not enough on simple, effective, natural remedies, like nutrition and exercise.
In the following short, 4-minute clip, which was aired in Sept 2007, Bill Maher takes a dig at the abovementioned areas. It’s a good watch - a lot of important information, and at the same time also a good laugh. Enjoy! (more…)

Have you ever heard of German New Medicine, or GNM for short? I hadn’t, until I recently conversed with a lady who fully recovered from ovarian cancer and peritoneal tumors using this system of healing.
Basically, based on my limited understanding, GNM is a healing protocol based on the fundamental assumption that disease has its root in emotional issues, in other words, that all diseases originate from unexpected shock experiences. (more…)

More on Health and Food Freedom. The new American administration is said to be pushing new laws and regulations in the area of food production. Some people have said that organic farming could be so highly regulated that organic farms will be put out of business; some say that organic farming, and even home gardening, could be criminalized!
Others say these are exaggerations. I have not, and do not intend to, read the draft bills. But what is quite certain is that the language of the new laws are rather vague and wide-reaching, thus allowing for broad-based regulation and control. Watch the following two short video clips for an idea. Read, too, the article linked to at the bottom. (more…)

Osteoporosis, thanks to degenerate dietary and lifestyle habits, is a growing problem in developed nations. It also follows that fractures arising from osteoporosis are on the rise.
But did you know that fractures due to osteoporosis actually kills a significant number of people? I certainly didn’t. The following article gives us some suggestions on a few possible protective measures. (more…)

Health Freedom in the first world, industrialized world, developed world, modern world, (supposed) free world - whatever you want to call it - is under threat. As Big Corporations and Big Government wield their power, the people’s liberties are coming under increasing (and worrying) threat.
It is time to educate and empower yourself. Only the People can stem the tide. Watch this short documentary (about 30 min) by international award-winning filmmaker Kevin P. Miller, titled “We Become Silent - The Last Days Of Health Freedom”. (more…)

Diabetes is a serious health condition which is beginning to affect an increasing number of people. In natural health circles, there is very little doubt that diabetes is a lifestyle and dietary disease.
And its escalating rates are heavily taxing the already burdened US medical care system, as revealed in the following article. (more…)
If you hadn’t realized by now, the mainstream media is a highly biased and highly censored source of information. It has its “masters”, both political and corporate in nature, to serve.
On television and in magazines, we frequently see advertisements proclaiming the wondrous health benefits of pharmaceutical drugs. But nobody is telling us how many thousands (of people) these drugs are harming and killing each day. Be careful of the media - it is a subtle brainwashing machine. Well, perhaps not so subtle after all. (more…)
Arthroscopic knee surgery is said to be a very commonly carried out operation. However, it may not bring the desired benefits as far as osteoarthritis and arthritis-related physical disability are concerned, as highlighted in the following article.
If more studies were carried out on different types of surgical procedures, I am certain that there will be many more which show up as failing to bring expected or promised benefits. Generally speaking, surgeries are hugely overdone in modern medicine today, in particular those used to fix chronic and degenerative health conditions. (more…)

Antibiotic side effects and negative reactions to antibiotics is a serious issue.
Each year, pharmaceutical drugs, including antibiotics, send tens of thousands of people worldwide into emergency rooms. Many of these people die from such adverse reactions. This is just one of a multitude of reasons why safer natural remedies should be explored. (more…)
Healthcare and medical costs in the United States are spiraling out of control. Yet, a study has found that millions of working Americans who suffer from chronic health conditions do not actually have insurance.
It’s hardly a healthy situation at all. Read on for more details. (more…)

Over the past few months, several studies have surfaced information on some possible causes and triggers of asthma. These factors could be lurking in our environment, or we could be unwittingly inhaling or consuming them.
Not surprisingly, the big culprits are household chemicals as well as pharmaceutical drugs. (more…)
With the passage of time, Man develops better and safer methods of detecting and diagnosing disease. As long as the profit interests of certain parties do not dominate, it is hopeful that overall progress will be made.
Here, we have news of a promising development with regard to asthma diagnosis - the use of a breath test. Read more about New Technology Could Allow Asthma Diagnosis via Breath Test at Natural Health News Articles.com. (more…)
Have you been diagnosed with asthma? Modern medicine is a lot about diagnoses and intervention, mainly in the form of drug medications.
However, have you ever wondered about the accuracy of diagnostic procedures? I’m sure you have. And this Canadian study gives us a sneek peek into the world of asthma diagnosis and treatment. (more…)

A study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association has found that brand-name drugs which treat heart disease are not better than their FDA-approved generic counterparts.
The study was led by Aaron Kesselheim, MD, JD, MPH, of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and had focused on clinical outcomes. These include factors such as blood pressure, heart rate, illness and death. (more…)

Would you dare to live a house whereby the person who constructed it did not feel it safe enough to step into? (more…)
I have been seeing some stories lately about how colonoscopy is only effective for detecting cancer in the left side of the colon (i.e. the descending colon), and not the right side of it (i.e. the ascending colon).
What really alarms me is how I have seen several headlines which go ‘colonoscopies only prevents X% of colon cancer’, or something along those lines. (more…)

A study has suggested that almost 600,000 out of the 1.6 million women who undergo breast biopsies are in fact going through unnecessary surgical procedures.
This was stated in an article on kdka.com, which was reporting on what was on CBS News. (more…)

In Dec 2008, an issue of the medical journal Nature published an article which gathered 7 scientists (two of them were on the payroll of the pharmaceutical companies). What did it say?
It said that doctors should be able to prescribe psychotropic drugs, for example the drugs given to children for ADHD, to healthy people. The purpose? To “improve brain function”. (more…)
In general, I would like to focus more on health-promoting methods, rather than harp on the shortcomings and failures of conventional medicine and its organizations. But, at times, I also do feel the need to raise certain issues.
Late last year, an issue surfaced whereby a group of scientists from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) Division accused their managers broke the rules in the review of medical equipment. (more…)

Conventional medicine, or, as it is called in the present day, allopathic medicine, had, many decades ago, declared a “war on cancer”. It has been so many years, yet, nothing very much has changed - the savage methods of surgery (cutting), radiation (burning) and chemotherapy (poisoning) are still widely used.
What has changed, is that the rates of people getting cancer are increasing all the time, and the number of people dying from the disease is climbing too. (climbing, or flying?) (more…)

Radiologists are often unseen and unheard medical professionals. They spend most of their time viewing scans and then writing reports.
An interesting piece of research conducted at a hospital in Israel has found that providing photographs of patients to radiologists caused them to take a more empathetic and personal approach, as well as to read scans more carefully. (more…)

With the effectiveness and safety of mammograms coming into question, and even coming under fire, the next issue becomes – what is the alternative for women to turn to? The answer could be thermograms.
Thermograms use heat which radiates from one’s own body to detect problems in the breast, and involve a combination of advanced digital technology as well as ultra-sensitive infrared camera imaging. (more…)
I cringe when I read about long lines of women queuing up to have their annual mammograms. I cringe even more when I read about how they are doing this in a bid to “prevent cancer”, or to attempt to lower their chances of succumbing to the disease.
Soon, all that cringing turns to anger, as it often does when it comes to many aspects of conventional medicine. (more…)
Do conventional diagnostic procedures like X-rays and mammograms actually do their part in causing cancer? Does conventional cancer treatment meddle with cancerous conditions which otherwise might have been successfully dealt with via the body’s own defence mechanisms, without the need for invasive intervention?
My own gut feel to both questions has always been yes, and yes. Now, recent research in Norway seems to indicate so, too. (more…)
Most of the time, I am a harsh critic of many areas of conventional medicine, and in particular, conventional cancer treatment. In fact, how it can pass off as “treatment”, I have no idea.
Bottom line – conventional cancer therapy only concentrates on the tumor. In doing so, it is dealing with the wrong thing, and that explains, in large part, its woeful results. (more…)
