Vitamin B17 and Budwig Protocol – Learn About Two Important Alternative Cancer Treatment Protocols

There are literally dozens of alternative cancer treatment protocols out there which have more than decent, even excellent, track records. Some have been around for a long time, while some are relatively recent discoveries. Some need the supervision of a physician or practitioner, while some can be done on one’s own. Some are more well-known than others.

Here, I would like to highlight two such treatment methods.

Laetrile, or Vitamin B17

One is the trophoblast theory of cancer. This line of reason basically states that cancer is a deficiency disease, much like scurvy is a deficiency of vitamin C. Under this theory, it is believed that nature has put in place two main means of protection against cancer – the pancreatic enzyme trypsin, as well as the natural compound amygdalin.

Amygdalin can be found in many foods, but it is most richly found in bitter almonds and apricot kernels. It is said that when our bodies lack these two vital ingredients, then cancer may result. Amygdalin is also commonly called vitamin B17, while the extracted version of the compound is called Laetrile.

Indeed, there are hundreds, even thousands of anti-cancer agents in nature. But vitamin B17 is said to be the most potent. The vitamin B17 theory of cancer was actually the very first I learnt about, and can be said to be my introduction to the world of natural health and healing, as well as to the failings of modern medicine.

Today, many natural healers and alternative cancer treatment protocols acknowledge the existence and usefulness of vitamin B17. While they do not rely on vitamin B17 alone, they do include the consumption of B17-rich foods.

Some alternative cancer clinics, most notably in Mexico and some parts of Europe, use vitamin B17 as their primary weapon against the disease. These clinics also embrace methods such as shark cartilage, intravenous vitamin C, detoxification, etc.

Budwig Protocol

The Budwig Protocol was the brainchild of Dr Johanna Budwig. Budwig was a biochemist, physicist, and also a leading expert on nutrition, fats and oils. She was nominated 7 times for the Nobel Prize, but never won.

The Budwig Protocol seeks to address deficiencies and imbalances in essential fatty acids in the body, which Budwig found was the cause of serious degenerative diseases, including cancer. Today, thousands worldwide use her protocol to beat cancer and other grave health conditions.

Budwig used her protocol to help thousands of patients for about 50 years. She only passed away a few years ago, after suffering a fall, living to the ripe old age of 95. That, to me, is a great testament to the effectiveness of her methods. I personally know of people who are using this protocol to overcome cancer, and who are doing very well.

Because Budwig’s work was mostly in German, there was not much publicity of it in the English-speaking world for some time. That, though, is changing, and the Budwig Protocol is gaining in popularity.
